Iris is silent for a long while, then rises, walks up to him, and on tiptoe presses the lightest kiss to the corner of his mouth.
She steps back, her amber eyes fixed on him: "This is the down payment. You come back alive, and you get the rest." Lane freezes: "...The rest? How much?" Iris: "A lifetime."
