The Story

"You... you're really back?" Lane's hands tremble. Iris steps close and stands before him: "I'm back. The forest thrived. The elves returned. I don't have to be a tree anymore." "Then why'd you wait a whole year to show up?" "Had to grow the forest." She smiles. "One tree takes a year. A whole forest... takes a year too."

"So now what?" "Forest's all grown." She holds out her hand. "Here to collect the rest." Lane takes her hand: "A lifetime?" "A lifetime." "Alright." He grins. "But I got one condition. Those three coppers... I really can't pay 'em back."

"Then pay with a lifetime." Iris stands on tiptoe and kisses him. "The rest. Collected." At dusk they sit side by side beneath the silver tree. "Your debt's paid. Three hundred and three coppers. Plus interest. Plus a lifetime. All settled." "So I can go?" She pinches him: "Don't you dare." He laughs and laces his fingers through hers: "Not going anywhere."

"Why stay?" she asks. "'Cause you chased me for three years. 'Cause you gave me half your life." He turns, green eyes locked on hers. "Because — I love you." She looks at him, amber eyes welling, then smiles: "Took you long enough." "You been waiting?" "Always."

The Hook
You love me?" "Guess." "I bet you do." "You got it — not telling you though." She snuggles into his chest. "'Cause you still owe me." "How much is the rest?" "A lifetime." She kisses him — "plus the next one." Silver moonlight falls over them; the serpent's eye on the hilt glows amber, pulsing softly — like a heart.
五行相生相克 →In the finale, the five elements settle into place: the silver moon (Metal) sheds its light, the silver tree (Wood) spreads its shade, the serpent's eye (Metal) beats like a heart — and the missing Water is finally restored (Iris's return quenches the drought). The coppers (Earth) were their first bond; now "all settled," the Earth virtue comes full circle. The elements no longer war — they nourish one another.
八字十神详解 →Lane (Rob Wealth / Seven Killings) finally says "I love you": the Rob Wealth prodigal comes home, the Seven Killings obsession touches down. Iris (Direct Seal / Hurting Officer) collects her "lifetime" — the Seal's promise, the Hurting Officer's devotion. The Ten Gods are the script; people are how it's lived — even a destiny written as "robbery" can be lived warmly.
How much is the rest?" — "A lifetime." Every debt in this story resolves into that one line. Coppers can be repaid; devotion cannot — so they settle it with a lifetime, and the one after.
